We apologize for the very delayed update on Barry’s diagnosis & prognosis. Barry finished his last chemotherapy treatment of his proposed treatment plan in late October 2012. He had his first set of full body scans November 7, 2012. They were the third set he had overall. The first set was the initial findings of the mass in April 2012, the second set was in late June prior to radiation treatment. Barry has now been cancer free since November 8, 2012. He will continued to be monitored with monthly follow ups accompanied by scans of his chest. He will be monitored with full body scans every three months which consist of a CT, PET, and MRI scans. The tumor itself has shrunken roughly 80%. The remaining portion of tumor will not be removed, as it will not effect anything. His results from November 2012 showed no signs of active cancer cells. However they did show fluid in his lungs which could have been a side effect from radiation therapy or a possible infection. It was not an infection, so his lungs will continued to be monitored. Barry received his second set of scans since finishing treatment February 7, 2013. He now awaits the results.
Please check back for the results of his most recent scans and other updates as they become available.
